New champions

Zenit St. Petersburg claimed their first Russian title in 23 years as they beat Saturn 1-0 on the final day of the 2007 season. Zenit finished two points ahead of Spartak Moscow and earned a place in the group stage of next season's UEFA Champions League. Spartak beat city rivals Dinamo 2-1 to earn a place in the qualifying rounds of Europe's elite competition. Last season's champions CSKA Moscow will play in the UEFA Cup after winning third place.
