russia league News

CSKA 10.7 : Coach Valeri Gazzaev has announced that he will leave CSKA Moskva at the end of 2008. The 53-year-old began his second spell in charge of CSKA in 2003 and has led them to three league titles and four Russian Cups as well as the 2005 UEFA Cup. Gazzaev was under contract until 2011 but has opted instead to step down when the current domestic season finishes.

Spartak M 10.7 : Midfielder Aleksandr Pavlenko will likely miss Spartak Moscow's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie because of a bladder problem. The 23-year-old has needed hospital treatment for the complaint, the recovery time from which will be one month. Pavlenko has missed only one league game this season, scoring three goals in nine starts.

Krylya 24.6 : Jan Koller has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Krylya Sovetov Samara. Financial terms were not disclosed. The 35-year-old Czech striker joined to the Russian club after a half season with Germany's Nurnberg. Nurnberg were relegated to the second division as Koller was struggling with his form, scoring just two goals since his move from Monaco in January. Koller, who scored a record of 55 international goals for his country, retired from international football after the Czech Republic were eliminated from EURO 2008 at the group stage.
