D.C. Utd. 2.10 : Jaime Moreno was suspended for two games by Major League Soccer for punching an opponent last weekend. The D.C. United forward struck Dallas midfielder Andre Rocha in the face in the 84th minute of his team's 3-0 defeat. Moreno will miss games against Chivas USA on Saturday and the Houston Dynamo on October 12.
Chivas 16.9 : Chivas USA have signed Brazilian midfielder Dejair on Monday, the last day to add players for the Major League Soccer season. Dejair's availability was pending finalization of his work visa and receipt of his international transfer certificate. He had been playing with Brazilian club ABC Natal. Chivas also acquired former U.S. international midfielder Sasha Victorine in exchange for allocation money from the Kansas City Wizards.
New York 16.9 : New York have announced the signing of Puerto Rico goalkeeper Terry Boss. Terms of the agreement were not mentioned. The 27-year-old Boss, who played most recently with the Charlotte Eagles in the United Soccer Leagues' second division, is unlikely to play for Red Bulls this season. Starting goalkeeper Jon Conway has played every minute of every game and he was already backed up by Danny Cepero and Caleb Patterson-Sewell.
Los Ang. 19.8 : The Los Angeles Galaxy have appointed Bruce Arena as their new boss, and the 57-year-old former U.S. national team coach will assume a dual role at the club. He takes over for Ruud Gullit, who resigned as coach August 11 for personal reasons, and president and general manager Alexi Lalas, who was fired the same day. The Galaxy haven't won a game in more than two months, losing four games and tying four.
Los Ang. 12.8 : Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Ruud Gullit has resigned for personal reasons, while Alexi Lalas has lost his job as president and general manager. The Galaxy, led by England midfielder David Beckham, are in the midst of a seven-game winless streak and are and lie 11th in the 14-team standings. Gullit will be succeeded on an interim basis by 37-year-old Cobi Jones, a first-year assistant who retired following last season after spending his entire pro career with the Galaxy.
Columbus 7.8 : Former New England Revolution forward Pat Noonan was traded to the Columbus Crew after re-signing with Major League Soccer. In exchange for trading Noonan's rights, the Revolution received money for acquiring future players and the Crew's first-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The 28-year-old Noonan has been playing for Aalesund in the Norwegian Premier League after a transfer from the MLS in January.
