Panathi. 25.9 : Sotiris Ninis has become the highest-paid 18-year-old in Greek football after extending his Panathinaikos contract by four years. Panathinaikos have inserted a €10m buy-out clause into the agreement for any foreign team wanting to buy the Greece midfielder, rising to €17m if a Greek side covets his signature. The Albanian-born Ninis has struck three Greek league goals in 20 games for his club.
Panathi. 18.9 : Giorgos Karagounis faces at least a month on the sidelines after injuring his calf during Panathinaikos' 2-0 UEFA Champions League defeat by Inter on Tuesday. The 31-year-old midfielder was taken off after 36 minutes and subsequent medical tests have confirmed a strain to his left calf. Panathinaikos hope to have Karagounis fit for the UEFA Champions League match at Werder Bremen on October 22.
Panionios 7.9 : Alvaro Recoba has joined Greek club Panionios on a two-year contract having become a free agent in the close season when his Inter deal expired. The 32-year-old Uruguay forward leaves Serie A after eleven seasons, having arrived at Inter from Danubio in the 1997/98 campaign. Recoba spent last term at Torino, featuring 22 times in the league.
Larisa 28.8 : Former France winger Laurent Robert has signed a two-year contract with Larissa. The 33-year-old heads to Greece after a brief and largely unsuccessful four-month spell with Major League Soccer side Toronto who released him earlier this month.
Olympia. 23.8 : Olympiacos have secured the services of Brazilian striker Diogo from Portuguesa for a fee of €9m. The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Greek champions. "I'm very happy to join such a big club as Olympiacos, who made a considerable effort to sign me. I want to thank the club for their patience and I'll do my best to repay them and the fans," said Diogo, who scored 25 goals in 61 league games for Portuguesa.
