Bayern 7.10 : Coach Juergen Klinsmann has received a job guarantee until the end of the season despite Bayern Munich's worst start in three decades. The defending champions are 11th in the Bundesliga standings with nine points after seven games, trailing leaders Hamburger by seven points. "He is the right coach for us and in principle he is doing everything right... We have confidence in him," said Bayern chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Borus. M. 6.10 : Borussia Monchengladbach became the first Bundesliga team to fire their coach this season, relieving Jos Luhukay of his duties Sunday. Luhukay, a 45-year-old Dutchman, guided the club to the second division title last season, but they have lost six of their first seven matches this campaign and are in last place with three points. Sporting director Christian Ziege will act as caretaker coach, with Borussia stating they do not want to "rush into" hiring a long-term replacement.
5.10 : Hamburger snatched a last-gasp 2-1 win away to Energie Cottbus to move three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. With seven games played, they lead with 16 points, followed by Hoffenheim and Stuttgart on 13. Hoffenheim won 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, while Stuttgart thumped Werder Bremen 4-1. Bayer Leverkusen remained on 12 points after losing 1-0 to Hertha Berlin.
Schalke were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Wolfsburg and they are in fifth place on 12 points, ahead of Borussia Dortmund on goal difference after their 1-1 draw at home to Hanover. Bayern Munich fell into the bottom half of the Bundesliga after throwing away a two-goal lead against Bochum. The 3-3 draw is another blow to coach Juergen Klinsmann, whose team now sit down in 11th place.

Hamburger edged Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0 to open a one-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, a 3-2 winner in Bochum. Werder Bremen are third, a point further back, after their thrilling 5-4 win over Hoffenheim. Werder now scored 10 goals in two games after winning 5-2 at Bayern last week.
The Bundesliga's last remaining unbeaten record fell on Sunday when Wolfsburg suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat away to Karlsruhe. Schalke, who went into the latest round of matches as the league leaders and the only other unbeaten team, have dropped to fourth on 11 points after they lost 1-0 at Koln. Champions Bayern are down in ninth place with eight points after a 1-0 defeat at Hanover.

Werder 20.9 : Werder will be without Torsten Frings and Clemens Fritz for the big clash against Bayern Munich this weekend. While Frings has been unable to overcome muscular problems, Fritz will have to miss out due to a bad bout with the flu. Daniel Jensen (ankle and Achilles problems) and Hugo Almeida (back injury) are also off the squad list for this weekend. “That alters the situation. Of course it’s particularly problematic when you lose players at such short notice, but we are thinking positive and will approach the game confidently ... I’m still optimistic about the fact that we can achieve something against Bayern,” said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf.
Bayern 20.9 : Franck Ribery has suffered a slight setback which will prevent him from making his comeback from injury this weekend. "Franck isn’t injured. His muscles have gone tight, which is only to be expected after the work he’s put in over the last week,” said Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann Friday. “It basically wouldn’t be a problem for Franck to play tomorrow, but there’s always a minor element of risk. A couple of days more or less don’t matter now.“ Klinsmann suggested that Ribery would now return during the German Cup clash with 1. FC Nurnberg on Wednesday.
14.9 : Hamburger rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat 10-man Bayer Leverkusen 3-2, taking the lead in the Bundesliga for the first time in nine years. Werder Bremen, last season's runners-up, picked up their first victory by routing last-placed Energie Cottbus 3-0. Hannover and Bochum also recorded their first victories in the Bundesliga this season by overcoming Borussia Monchengladbach and Arminia Bielefeld respectively. Their successes mean the three teams yet to win this term, Arminia, Eintract Frankfurt and Energie, make up the bottom three.
