Italy Captain Fabio Cannavaro Considers Spain And Brazil Favourites For World Cup
After complaining earlier today about how the Italian media has treated his failed drug test due to a cortisone shot for a wasp sting, Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro went back to talking about football matters.
The World Cup winner jokingly said there is one way to get rid of him.
"If I win the World Cup again, I promise I will leave football," he said to Ansa. "If you want to be rid of me, let me lift that Cup again. But it would be a miracle."
Asked about the Azzurri's most dangerous opponents next summer in South Africa, Cannavaro named only two teams.
"Brazil and Spain will be a step ahead of everyone else, but we are right behind them along with a few other teams," he added.
On the possible addition of Brazilian-born Juventus striker Amauri to the squad, he said, "If Amauri joins at the last minute? There wouldn't be problems, something similar happened also at the Euros with [Roberto] Donadoni, when [Alessandro] Del Piero and [Antonio] Cassano joined the team unexpectedly."
