Valencia Against Genoa Is Like A Champions League Game - David Villa
As Valencia prepare to welcome Genoa in tonight's Group B Europa League encounter at the Mestalla, star striker David Villa says that the game is virtually a Champions League game as the standard of the two teams is so high.
"Valencia and Genoa may be superior to other teams that are in the Champions League but they have qualified on merit and not us," he said, according to Super Deporte.
"We are two top teams from Italy and Spain and it is virtually a Champions League match."
Villa is in magnificent goalscoring form with six goals in his last four starts for Los Che and he insists that his side must get a win tonight against the group leaders.
"After the draw at Lille it is very important to win at home and they {Genoa] are ahead of us so we must beat them to get the upper hand," Villa added.
He also said that the leaky Los Che defence is a matter for the whole team to be concerned about, not just the defenders.
"We can all do more to defend better. It's not about the four defenders. We are all to blame for goals conceded."
