Exclusive: Mladen Petric Claims Hamburg Want To Be Successful In Every Competition

Croatian international Mladen Petric has been one of the key men in Hamburg's successful start to the 2009-10 campaign. The 28-year-old has scored three league goals so far for HSV and helped the Rothosen to a 1-0 victory against Bayern Munich last week.

Germany's Dennis Weinacht spoke with the tricky attacker about his ambitions for this season and his plans for the future.

"We want to be as successful as possible in both the Bundesliga and the Europa League. We have shown what we are capable of in the match against Bayern Munich last week. However, we have also had some bad games. Consistency is the key if you want to put in several good performances in a row," Petric told

"Scoring the match winner against Bayern Munich was quite special for me. You want to score as many goals as possible when you're a striker. That is what the crowd expects you to do and they will judge you on it if you fail to find the net for a while.

"I haven't really thought about my future at HSV to be honest. I still have a lot of plans and things to achieve over here. Things are looking good at the moment and it's up to the team to prove that we can be successful. Nevertheless, things can change really quickly in the world of football, so it remains to be seen what will happen in the future."
