Eric Abidal: La Liga Title First Then Champions League For Barcelona
Eric Abidal has revealed that Barcelona have their sights set on retaining the Primera Division crown ahead of any thoughts of conquering Europe for the second consecutive season.
The French defender is delighted with the start the Catalan outfit have made and wants them to maintain their current form in order to again dominate on the domestic front.
Winning the Champions League will also be high on the club's agenda, but Abidal believes that will not take priority in what will be a long season.
"I want to win everything, but we have to first of all go for the league title and then, later, go for the Champions League," he told reporters on Sunday.
"It is a long road and there will be plenty of time to see if we can win one, two or three trophies again."
Many are already predicting a two-horse race between Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title, but Abidal has joined his team-mates in stating that it will not be the case.
"We cannot forget that there are other teams just below us that can also win the title," he continued.
"It is too soon to say that there are only two sides going for it."
